IPTV player FAQ
Answers to the questions we are asked most often about TvZapeo, the IPTV player app for Android TV.
Does TvZapeo provide channels, movies or series?
No. TvZapeo is a media player, just like a video player: it does not provide, sell or host any channels, movies or series. You use it with your own subscription, purchased legally from the provider of your choice.
What is an IPTV app?
An IPTV app (or IPTV player) plays channels and videos delivered over the internet. It contains nothing on its own: it displays what your provider gives you, with a programme guide, favourites and search.
Which devices does TvZapeo run on?
Android TV and Google TV: Sony, Philips, TCL and other Android TV televisions, Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV and Android boxes. It also runs on Android tablets, in landscape, with touch controls.
Does TvZapeo work on a phone?
Your phone is mainly used as a remote: the TvZapeo remote control is built in, which is handy for browsing and for typing a title with the phone keyboard. The app itself is designed for the TV and the tablet.
Which subscriptions can I add?
Xtream Codes logins (server, username, password) and M3U playlists (a playlist link). You can add several: favourites and history are kept separately for each provider.
Is a programme guide included?
Yes: four hours of programmes on screen, with your provider’s guide. When it has no guide for a channel, TvZapeo finds one elsewhere, all by itself. You can also add your own guide, or pick the right one with “Wrong guide?”.
Can I watch a programme again (Replay)?
Yes, if your provider offers Replay (catch-up) on that channel: pick the channel and the day, or press OK on a past programme in the guide. On live TV, the “Start” button also lets you go back to the beginning of the current programme.
How does the free trial work?
Install TvZapeo and use it freely for a week, with no bank card. Afterwards, the app offers to activate a licence by scanning a QR code with your phone.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once: the licence is for life (the whole lifetime of the app), updates included.
Can I use TvZapeo on several TVs?
Yes: add one licence per device, now or later. Licences add up.
My subscription only allows one screen at a time. Is that a problem?
No. TvZapeo never connects to your provider twice at the same time. If a connection is already active at start-up, the app tells you and waits: your subscription is not blocked for one connection too many.
Are there profiles and parental controls?
Yes. One profile per person, with their own avatar, favourites, history and provider. Adult lists and content are locked with a code, and you can set a daily screen time for each profile.
Is TvZapeo on Google Play?
A Google Play version is being prepared. In the meantime, you install TvZapeo with the download link on this website, and the app keeps itself up to date.
Are my settings backed up?
Yes. Settings, favourites and profiles can be backed up, including to a USB stick, and restored on a new device.
Which languages is the app available in?
English, French, Dutch, Spanish and Italian; the TV’s language is picked automatically. Support replies by email in English, French or Dutch.
Who makes TvZapeo?
SoWeDo, a web agency based in Belgium. Contact: android@sowedo.be.
